The Fabius Baseball Academy Winter Baseball Sessions are back for another great year of off-season training. The 10 week training sessions will prepare you to be at the top of your game at the first day of try-outs. Give yourself the best shot at a roster position. Remember coaches only have 3 to 4 days to determine who will make the team. From the first day of try-outs your coaches will know you have worked hard in the off season. This could make the difference of a roster spot or being cut from the team.

Please call (315)683-5241 or email info@fabiusbaseballacademy.com to reserve your spot today.

You can download the registration form here. Please have this filled out prior to the first class.

Late comers are welcome and will receive a prorated price.

Elite Hitting Program

January 24, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Why:
Fabius Baseball Academy instructors have worked with so many frustrated hitters, and parents we have decided to offer an Elite Hitting Program. Hitting a baseball is probably the most difficult task of any sport. You take a round bat and try to hit a round ball squarely. Realizing there is only a ¼” difference between a fly ball, line drive or week ground ball. When you consider 70% of all fly balls are caught for outs. This is probably the only sport when you can fail 7 out of 10 times and be considered a very good hitter. Most poor hitting has been conditioned into the hitter from poor basic instruction and improper mechanics along with very little practice. Frustration is amplified as the level of baseball is increased sometimes to the point of not playing baseball any more.

Hitters:
Don’t think the school batting practices you are receiving during your workouts are enough to enable you to be a consistent good contact hitter.
Think about how many players coach has to throw batting practice to (if coach even throws, it might be an assist or even a team mate).
Say there is 17 on your team. 10 pitches to each, that’s 170 each round. Coach throws 2 rounds 340 pitches. But you only got 20 swings.
What can you do with 20 swings? You probably have not even picked up a bat since fall ball? How much Tee work, soft toss, wiffle ball, quick stick, wrist rolls, pitches inside, pitches outside, pitches at the letters, pitches at the knees are you doing? Not every pitch is right down the middle. This is reality, hitting requires as much work if not more than pitching and or fielding. Worst of all where can you go train in a facility where all these stations are available at the same time? Yes the Fabius Baseball Academy. In a typical Elite Hitting Session you will have taken as a minimum 48 off soft toss, 60 quick stick, 50 off the tee, 75 off the Iron Mike Arm Machine. 200-250 swings in one 60 minute and that’s not counting wrist, core and arm strengthening exercises. Attending your High School Practice for a week, you may get 100 swings.

Focus:
The first and biggest advantage to Elite Hitting is using Wood Bats, No ALUMINUM Bats allowed. You will learn to hit in the 3 to 4” area called the sweet spot on a wood bat. It will take some adjustment but your success will be measured in batting average and confidence in your approach. Elite Hitting focuses on solid and explosiveness when connecting with the baseball. No matter whether the pitch is inside, outside, high, low, fastball, curve, or change up.

Age/Time/Price:

Age: 13yrs and older
Cost: TBD
Commitment: 5 weeks
Session: 60 minutes
Days/Time: Fri. 8:00-9:00
Sun. 9:00-10:00, 10:00-11:00, 11:00-12:00, 2:30-3:30, 3:00-4:30
Session limit: 6 hitters per Session

Elite Pitching Program

January 21, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Why:
Professional Minor League Pitcher Mike Schellinger along with the Fabius Baseball Academy has determined the need to develop an Elite Pitching Program geared toward the dedicated premier athlete that wants to take his game to the next level. With such a huge emphasis placed on pitching and rightfully so, there is no program in the area that will develop and condition pitchers properly to maximize potential and avoid arm soreness or injury that could be career ending at the high school age. Although the program will be grueling you will be conditioned to throw 80 plus quality pitches by the time you go to your High School Try-outs. You will clearly come to understand with this training regiment your ability to maintain optimum performance throughout the baseball season.

Where:
Fabius Baseball Academy’s 6,000 square foot facility has a turf field, special daylight lighting, Pro-mounds, large weight training area, professional training equipment and high speed digital video equipment is the perfect facility for any Pitcher Program. You will quickly realize the personal attention given to each athlete as the facility allows only one program to operate in a session. To maximize personal instruction the Elite Pitching Program only registers 8 pitchers per training session.

Instructor:
Minor League Pitcher Mike Schellinger
Mike Schellinger was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals and pitched for three years in their organization. Mike is presently under contract with an Independent Can-Am League.
Mike Schellinger has been training under Major League Pitching Coaches and has developed a Professional Training program to provide the proper overall workout regiment to maximize your athletic abilities. You will be stronger, quicker; have greater pitch accuracy and velocity. This will clearly be measured by your stats throughout the baseball season.

Pitchers:
Your desire to play at the next level can be realized with hard work and scholastic achievement.
The Elite Pitching Program will provide you with the most compressive supervised training program available in Central New York. Just supply fortitude and desire.
Please realize you can do all the weight lifting in the world and might not target a single muscle that will help you’re pitching. Pitchers require unique specialized exercises. Elite Pitching Program will provide you exercises and the feed back through results you should feel when exercises are properly executed. No need for costly travel from facility to facility, Fabius Baseball Academy provides one location with all your training requirements.

***CAUTION TO PARENTS AND ATHLETES ***
Parents you may have registered your son on a team that plays in showcase tournaments but without the proper training and conditioning the whole summer could be financially wasted with an arm injury prohibiting showcasing the position you registered for.
